    • 1 x 15-pin SATA power connector (optional connection)

  • Chipset: ASMedia ASM1142
  • Software:
    • No driver installation is required on MacOS 10.9 to 10.10, and 10.12 and later (NOTE: MacOS 10.11 in-box driver doesn't support ASMedia USB 3.1), Win10/8, Server 2012 and later, Linux 2.6.31 and later.
    • The ASMedia driver for 32/64 bit Windows 7/Vista, and Server 2008/2003 is available from our website.

  • Data transfer rate:
    • USB 3.1 Gen2 up to 10 Gbps
  • Power:
    • Support up to 3A/5V on USB-C and 2A/5V on USB-A downstream ports.
    • The 15-pin SATA power connection is optional. Each USB port can provide up to 3A/5V or 2A/5V power. If full loaded, it requires at least 25W (3A*5V + 2A*5V) power. The power supply from PCIe bus to a 4-lane/low profile card is 25W (max) per PCI Express specification.

  • Instead of taking 5V power directly from power supply, our design includes power switching regulator circuit that automatically converts 12V from PCIe bus or from 15-Pin SATA power to ensure sufficient 5V/3A bus power on USB-C port and 5V/2A on USB-A port.
  • Low Profile PCIe Form Factor board
  • Supports PCIe 1.0, 2.0, or PCIe 3.0 motherboard

Customer FAQ

Q 1 .   Is this compatible with a Mac? OSX 10.11 (El Capitan)
Answer:

It doesn’t work with Mac OS X 10.11 (El Capitan) because OS X 10.11 built-in driver does not support XHCI 1.1.

Q 2 .   Support for ASUS MB169C+?
Answer:

No. PU31-1A1C does NOT support DP Alt Mode on USB-C port.

Q 3 .   Is this compatible with Mac OSX 10.12 Sierra?
Answer:

Yes, the adapter works with Mac OS X 10.12, and previous versions from 10.9 to 10.10. It does NOT work with OS X 10.11 because the built-in drivers exclude support for XHCI 1.1.

Q 4 .   What is the SATA power connector for? Does it require to be connected?
Answer:

The 15-pin SATA power connection is optional. It depends on the USB devices/applications whether to get the SATA power connected to PC power supply. For PU31-1A1C, the USB-A port can provide up to 5V/2A power and USB-C port  provides up to 5V/3A power. If full load each USB port, it requires at least 10W (5V*2A) + 15W (5V*3A) = 25W power. Per PCI Express specification, the power supplied from PCIe bus to a 4-lane/low profile card is 25W (max). Therefore, it should be enough for the two USB ports.
